Deeper Still…

By: Hillary J Murphy

She waded out into the water. The sound of the waves crashing into the shore matched the tempo of her feet. The turquoise water waltzing with the material of the skirt of her favorite dress. The pull was so strong inside her, like a magnet to metal, nothing could turn her gaze away. The fire burning so brightly in His eyes, like the blazing sun kissing the horizon. The cool breeze moved across her face and carried the locks of her hair along with it, but it did nothing to temper the fire burning in her heart.

Deeper. Each step towards those eyes taking her deeper into the waters. Fear had fled her long ago, racing back to the shore as she moved towards the endless love looking back at her. Calling her to surrender and let Him love her - all of her. She never felt so seen - so known. And still the blaze in His eyes called her closer - deeper.

All her insecurities fled - rushing backward, away from this Perfect Love. Nothing on earth could compare. Nothing on earth could fill those places that had lain empty. The intensity and serenity of the peace washing over her was almost too much. She began to close her eyes and then He spoke.

His eyes a vibrant fire - so beautiful and inviting. The entire world seemed to live inside them, yet a world more exquisite than anything she’d ever seen.

“Come. Follow Me.”

One step and she went under. Engulfed in a sea of love so deep and wide she could not see the end from the beginning. She felt out of control and wonderfully free all at once.

“Peace, be still.”, He spoke. And instantly her heart and mind came to a rest so sweet, so pure she wondered if she ever knew rest at all? Worry and doubt drifted away with the current as her eyes locked on His.

The deeper she sank the more she felt complete...whole.

This is where she was always meant to be, here drowning in His sea of love.

This is who she was created to be, His Beloved.
